My father was christened "Wenceslaus." I am wondering what the English translation is for this name. My grandparents were both from Poland. Yet this name appears to be German or Slavic.

Some translate the "wence" part as "wreath", so you could loosely translate it as Stephen

WenceslausHi,Wenceslaus/Wenzeslaus are latinized forms of the Old Polish name Wiénczys³aw, which means "more" + "fame".Regards, Satu

...sorry, the 3 should be an l with a short / through it! It didn't work here.
