Re: Faygen
in reply to a message by Bryson
Bad name for a boy-child. It sounds too much (at least, to me) like the Yiddish word "faygeleh" -- which used to mean "sweet little girl". But then it later became a term of derision -- especially when applied to males, when it means "homosexual". Not that there's anything wrong with being gay -- but I don't know any parents -- gay or straight -- who'd give their child a name suggestive of sexuality in any form. I mean, seriously, do you know anyone who'd even name a kid "Dick" these days?
And then there's the Fagan of *Oliver Twist*, with bad associations of child exploitation.
Nah, I don't like "Faygen" as a name at all.

I agree with Nan that the name Faygen bears inevitable homosexual innuendo. For the sake of argument, even if you give a Faygen the name "Straight" as a middle name, "Faygen Straight" would still yield the following homophobic anagrams:
Fart! The gay sing
Faster gay thing
Neat gay frights
The gay fat rings
Gay father sting
Neat gay frights
Gay that fingers
Gyrate shafting
Thy angriest fag
It's the angry fag
