In response to your question: you're right, Alison never originated as a "-son" surname. You're also wrong. It is sometimes used as a boy's name and I may well use it for my hypothetical son, because I think it is lovely as a boy's name.
What's the problem with boys sharing your name anyway? Does it somehow violate your feminity or something? I'm just not understanding why this bugs you. I wouldn't really care if there were boys called Sarah...
