A new name for Ya all.
Does anyone have any info on the name Letaine? I know nothing about it except it's my name :)

I typed "Le taine" into my online French dictionary. It brought up "the taine." So I tried "Le tain" instead and it brought up "silvering." The dictionary only brings up literate meanings, and is sometimes incorrect, so I wouldn't rely on this.

It sounds French - I'm sure you've heard that. I'd look it up in a French dictionary, out of curiosity. Or just "taine" - did you study French in school?
Is that your given name since birth? Or did you choose it. (My original first name was Arpard, which I hated, and my family and friends called me "Arpie" when I was a boy - needless to say, that became "Art" when I was about 18.
Good luck finding out about your name.

It's not a word in French - it just sounds that way, sorry.

Quite so...
Letaine does not appear as either a first OR a last name in France per Prenoms.com, and on both counts, their lists are very complete. Someone in your family may have had a good ear for French-SOUNDING names. If you want to tell folks it's French, I doubt if you'll get many skeptics.
