I would like to know the meaning of the name Lodusky.

"Lodusky" is an American form of Lodoiska. This name came to the USA through the opera _Lodoiska_ by Luigi Cherubini. Cherubini in turn based his opera on a book by the French author Jean-Baptiste Louvet. I have looked at Louvet's book and cannot find an explanation of the character Lodoiska's name. It is possible that Louvet meant for it to be a Polish version of Louise, but at this point that's just speculation. It may be a name he simply invented.

The name is found in many forms in public records in the USA during the early 19th century. Loduska, Lodusca, Lodorski, Ladusca, etc. are ones that I have seen in addition to Lodusky.

The Polish version of Louise would most likely be Ludwika.

I didn't mean that Louvet was CORRECT in thinking Lodoiska was the Polish form of Louise. But part of the story he wrote was set in Poland, so he probably created the name to "sound Polish" to his French readers.
