How does one pronounce the name Gin? It has created a rather heated debate between several students on campus.

"G" as in "Green" (not like "ginger" f.ex.) and the "i" is quite clear, like "ee". Just listen on youtube to "Gintama" or "Bleach" or "Mushishi", all of them have characters called "Gin" =)

The debate was about Ichimaro Gin from _Bleach_. Several people have been saying that it's pronounced like the liquor, but I was pretty sure it sounded closer to "kin" than "gin".

then you were right :) It is definitely not like the liquor (which is actually spelled as "Jin" in japanese).
