Kioko
Does anyone know the meaning of this name? I heard in "The Constant Gardener" on a Kenyan boy.
Does it mean anything in any African language?

Pride is one of the seven deadly sins; but it cannot be the pride of a mother in her children, for that is a compound of two cardinal virtues -- faith and hope.

Well, a little Googling certainly shows that Kioko is indeed a real Kenyan name. For example, the director of the Kenyan Bureau of Standards is Kioko Mangeli.
To find the original meaning, you will have to consult persons who are familiar with Kenyan languages. Your best bet is to find a person or book that will tell you about Gikuyu, the language of the Kikuyu ethnic group, by far the largest single ethnic group in Kenya.
