Shoshana = Susan = some kind of flower, right? Lily or Rose? So, perhaps they put Rose with Shoshana and tweaked the spelling to make it more exotic. In which case, she's got two names in one - quite a bargain!

yeah, it does mean some sort of flower (a hot debate with biblical plant scholars, who are these people?) with the most modern interpretation as 'Rose'. Hence, Rose Rose. I don't know why that didn't occur to me before. It would sort of be like being named after a double rose! That's a lot better than being named after the holy new year.
