I'm a Asian girl. Could you tell me something about "Carmencita"? What's the difference between "Carmen" and "Carmencita"? And what does "Carmencita" exactly mean in Spanish? What do you think of it?

Carmencita is a pet form of Carmen. It means "little Carmen" (sorry to be so explicative of the obvious, just don't know how to put it). Carmen is the Spanish form of CARMEL influenced by the Latin word carmen "song" (BtN) and Carmel is Hebrew for garden, so Carmencita would be either "little song" or "little garden" (perhaps a little song about a little garden...???)
The appropriate form is Carmen, as Carmencita itself is not a name, but then again, this days anything may be a name, so never mind that.
The name Carmen is very common one among Spanish speaking people, not only for girls but for boys as well, although it is more frequently used for girls. It has got a religious connotation to it because of "La Virgen del Carmen" ('Our Lady of Carmel'). The other form of this name, used in Spanish, is Carmela, from the Carmel Mountains in Israel. The pet for of this is Carmelita.
