Please could you shed any light on the name 'Alchamia'
It is a female name, and occurs in at least four generations of my family tree. The last one was my granmothers aunty, and before that in every generation as far back as early 1700 hundreds. We have a history of sea captains, and a story of one of them marrying a south american spanish woman. I have been trying to find out any information about this name for a few years now.

I know how frustrating, not finding certain information can be, as my mother digs in the past for her own ancestors and sometimes becomes obsessed with a piece of missing data. I tried finding some info on Alchamia, as it seems like a Latin originated word and you mentioned you are Spanish related. So far I have found nothing but alternative spellings on Alchamia.
Is this the only spelling you have for this name or are there any variations??.
Maybe that could help to finally get an answer.
