What is the meaning of this name?

I checked the local baby announcements today, and there I saw that a girl was born, named Nour. I like that name very much, I guess it's pronounced in the French way. But I've never heard of it before, nor do I know what it means and what its origin is.

Maybe you guys have got a clue?

Nour is an arabic name and it means light, hope, freedom..
I like my name.I'm from Lebanon, here my name is really popular girls+boys can be named nour, and mostly islams name Nour.

Nour

...is an Arabic girls' name. It's pronounced noor and it means "light".

Thanks, Caprice! So, Nour is an equivalent of my own name (Lucille -> Lucia -> lux = light)! :) Funny coincidence... ;)
