Baruch is Hebrew for blessing and one name that came from it is is Barak. Blessing is a word which means literally that one lays hands upon the crown of another's head and pronounces excellent words and a the prophecy in words upon the name/head of the one blessed.I am not a fan of naming a animal after the names of human beings, but since your little dog is a Yorshire Terrier, and it is a breed from England may I suggest you name it according to its breed history.

From my experience as a lady who does see and know animals in the lifes as pets, companions and partners with human beings an animal will present its own unique little name to the person who loves it and lives with it. Give the little fella a chance to show you what his name is and you will find just the right one to suit him and you.
Otherwise just name him what you said he is to you "Blessing". I have had animal friends that I left nameless or tried on a huge variety of names for months on until one day suddenly their names just hit me between the eyes like lightening. I am specifically thinking of a big, 16lb gray and white spotted cat named Peanut. He was born the runt of a litter of 5 born on Rosh Hashanah/Jewish September New Year. The name "Peanut" came to me because he looked real shriveled and veiny like a peanut. The name stuck even after he was full grown; ended up being the giant of the litter, but so very very gentle and unoffensive.

There's a search facility on the Home page which allows you to type in the meaning you want, and all the relevant names come popping up obediently. One of them will doubtless be Benedict, but as long as your surname isn't Arnold, why worry?
