Where does this come from?
My brother somehow came up with the name Idiana for my niece. I have never been able to find a meaning for this name or any information about its origins. We are not of any particular ethnicity, just your average Caucasian, and neither is her mother. Can anyone help? Also, if anyone has clues to the meaning of my name other than the constellation Orion or its relation to the keel of a boat I would very much appreciate it. Thanks1

He could have just embroidered Ida.
And your name could well be a form of Catherine - the Danish version of Catherine (or of course Katharine) is Karen. They pronounce it more or less KAH-ren, but it's often said as if it rhymed with Sharon (SHA-rin, not sha-RON like the politician). And sometimes also KAY-rin or KERR-in.
