Pronounciation of Cuchulainn
I've heard Cuchulainn (Irish, masc.) pronounced both "koo-HOO-lin: and "koo-COH-lin" by two Irish people. Which pronounciation is correct, or which is most common?

Both are correct. They are dialect variants. Koo-HUL-in is how it is said in Ulster/Donegal Irish;Koo-CUL-in in Connaught/Galway Irish.Further South ,In Kerry it's more Koo-CHUL-in but this difference would only be obvious to someone used to the different accents.
Thanks!
Are they dialect differences, perhaps?
I say the latter pronunciation myself, but that doesn't mean I'm right or that the other is wrong.

I've always heard it pronounced "cue-KAH-lain" myself, so I don't think I can help you clarify it. :-)
Thanks anyway! He was the hero of an old epic, so it's likely that no one really knows how his name was pronounced.
Lol, actually . . .
He was the hero of an old epic that was passed down through oral history, so there almost certainly is an existing, correct pronunciation.
