Hy everyone!

I'm trying to find something about the last name Dalziel. Don't know where it's from.I've heard it pronounced 'dee-el' which made no sense to me. Hope you can help!

The surname is Scottish. The z actually represents an old fashioned g, which moved to a y sound. Dalyel progressively reduced in speech to dee-el, the most common pronounciation today in Scotland. The name derives from a placename in Scotland.
