I immediately thought of Trevelyan, a Cornish name that means "settlement of the bright (or shining) one; fair town." It's possible that Trevlyn is a simplified form of this.

Trevelyan :)If you click the link in your post you'll find it means 'village of Elian'. Elian is a Cornish personal name (also found in Welsh), derived from the elements el- 'much, many' and gan 'born'. Just as in Old English names, element meaning does not greatly affect element combination choices...Your source is probably confusing Elian with Elaine, or some other version of Helen. :)
