One really needs to see how the Chinese characters in a name are written, in order to interpret the meaning of that name.
"Ho" can be an English transliteration for several very different Chinese words. Same with "Kar". This is because the Chinese language has many homophones (words with the same pronunciation).
To really find out the meaning of your Chinese friend's middle name, you'd have to ask his parents -- assuming they are able to speak and write in Chinese.
