Saran (NOT the eponyme of a product)

Looking for some more info. on the name Saran. So far I have
(m)or(f)Guinea and Cote D'Ivoire name meaning "joy.", (NOT "plastic wrap" you yahoos!!) But I got this from not so reliable sources, so if this is wrong or there is more to it, please, let me know, OK?.Thanx a zillion,

There's a ...male Irish name Sárán (pron. something like sau-raun).There's a Welsh female name Saran, possibly derived from the Irish name, but more likely created through association with Sara and Sanan.
