Wart
We named our son Wart (with a 'T') after the young King Arthur in T.White's 'The sword in the stone'. Disney's movie 'Merlin' is based on it.
When Merlin and the young King meet, the boy presents himself as : "My name is Arthur, but everybody calls me Wart".
Is this name derived from Edward (like Ward with a "D") or is it from Arthur ?

Goodness gracious!
I had always assumed that it was Sir Kay's idea of a joke, based on the vague rhyme between Art (from Arthur, think Garfunkel) and the little lumps on the skin that are annoying, unwanted and just won't go away. Like a foster brother ...
For the sake of your son, assuming that you are for real and not a bizarre joke, I hope I'm wrong.

I always thought the reason why everyone called young Arthur "Wart" in the book was because he was the ward (a minor placed under the protection and care of a guardian) of Sir Hector. And, over time, the child (who was viewed so indifferently by his guardian that he wasn't even referred to by his proper name), came to be called "Wart" as a lazy mispronunciation of "the ward".
