I need name help....
Hi everyone--- one of my favorite feminine names is "Elyria". Does anyone know it's origin and meaning??? I've looked everywhere, and no site seems to have it. I thought perhaps it could be an modern spelling of some Irish or Welsh name, but I really have NO clue. If anyone has any info, PLEASE email me! Thanks!

Perhaps the "Elyria" you've heard is a variation of "Illyria"?According to the dictionary, Illryia was "an ancient region of the Balkan Peninsula on the Adriatic coast".Shakespeare obviously liked the melodiousness of the name, and used it for the name of the kingdom which is the setting in his play titled *Twelfth Night*.For an interesting etymology of the word "Illyria", check out this link:http://theillyrians.homestead.com/etymology.html-- Nanaea
