My daughter's name is Esme and ANovack is absolutely right about everyone saying it differently. We introduce her to people saying Ezzmee. There are variations on the spelling including Esmee. We do not sweat it and hope she won't either.

I'd pronounce it the French way: es-MAY, but without this very English ee-sound at the end of "may". Just say "may" and stop in the middle of the word ;)

If you want it to be Es-may then so be it. My oldest daughter's name is Desiree. I pronounce it like Desir-ay but I have heard others say Desir-ie. I dont think there is a right or wrong pronounciation for Esme, like there isnt for Desiree. No one pronounces my name right, however I'm used to it and dont care anymore. So dont stress yourself over it.
