Rinoa is the name of a character from a video game, Final Fantasy VIII. The game was originally Japanese. Though there isn't 100% confirmation, experts on video games seem to believe that the Japanese creator of the game actually named the character with the French name "Lenore" in mind. The closest he could get to "Lenore" in Japanese was to use characters that are pronounced as "Rinoa". When the game was brought to the United States, the manufacturer used the sound of the characters in Japanese for the English name of the character rather than reverting to the original Lenore.
