origin of my name
Was wondering if you be willing to help me find the origin of my first name "Clu." I have been told that it may be Danish or Irish. I have been unable to find any information on this name. It is a male name and may even have been a last name originally. There are several other people in the U.S. and Canada with this name, and as far as I can tell, they are all males.
Would appreciate your assistance or suggestions in this regard.
Sincerely,
Clu Tamlin

Hi Clu!
Clu isn't Danish for sure. Irish sounds more likely. There are two Welsh names I found: Clud and Clust, but I don't know the meanings. Maybe Merriment can help? And I found this Celtic name: Cluny meaning "meadow"...
Regards, Satu

not a clue....(m)
Sorry :).
But seriously, it's probably from a surname (if it's English in origin), and the best bet is Clough (cluff) also found in the form Clue/Clew, and meaning 'dweller in a steep-sided valley or ravine'.
