Help with my name- Magelyn
So, I've got this kinda weird name. I pronounce it Mage (like Paige) Lyn (like Lynn). Usually I just go by Mage though because it seems hard for some people to figure out (Magellan?). *sigh*I'm wondering if anyone could help me figure out the origin and etymology of the name. I used to think it was a Norse name meaning "little pearl" but I can't remember where I got that. I know Maggie means pearl, and I know -lein is a diminutive suffix, but other than that...I did a google search on it and I was suprised to find it's a name in the Phillipines as well, and I found a few from from northern European origin but they're all dead I think. Seems to have been a name from the turn of the century.By the way, my family is a mutt mix of northern europe- german, irish, scottish, welsh, danish, ect.Any help would be greatly appreciated. I don't even know if I pronounce my own name right. :(

Mage looks like a shortened form of Margaret (click link), and Margaret of course means pearlLyn is just Lyn or Lynn (click link)The problem with Lynn is that it has many possible sources
It could beWelsh: Lake
Spanish: Beautiful
A Germanic Element: Soft, tender
Another Germanic Element: Serpent or Dragon
or just a short form of names ending in Lynn. An expert may be able to provide more insight
