were for Syntharis, which appears to be a medication (appeared on a Dutch site next to Beconase, a hayfever preparation. Cyntharis turned up a reference on a German website...Perhaps you should look at Germanic names? The name looks Greek, but clearly isn't a Modern or Ancient name and looking in my big fat Greek dictionary doesn't help...

The rumour in the family is that it was American Indian but I couldn't find anything in any of the info. that I looked at. The woman was my gggrandmother and her full name was Sintharis Carroll. The last name is Irish. I'll try spelling it with a C and see what happens. Thanks. Carol
I also did a quick Google and found the name Sinthara.
