From the an old archive I found this said on the name Lestat (used by Anne Rice in her vampire novels)

So my question is, was this name purley invented by Rice? or was name in use before the novels?.

It would be interesting to know wouldn't it ... I have read in the latest novels of Lestat on his name " my parents created it using the first initial of my six older brothers" L.E.S.T.A.T
