To return to names for a moment, how apt it seems that the US President of the moment should have the surname of Bush.
In South Africa we had our share of undeclared wars in the 70s and 80s, and our (conscript, then) armed forces were sent across the borders to Namibia, Angola etc to fight in strange guerrilla raids on villages, armed camps, nothing at all ... and frequently suffered psychological damage as a result. They were said to be "in the bush", in Afrikaans, and the shell-shock-like results of this on them meant that they were said to be, or to have gone, "bossies" - basically, Bushy.
