Trent
Hello,
I have seen on this site that Trent is the name of a River in England. However, the etymology is not discussed. Is this name English? Or is it Celtic? Or is it from Latin?
Thanks for any help!

I was asking myself the same question a while ago and found the information on the Internet that a Celtic origin of the name of the river is suspected, but not proven. The name of the Romans for the river was Trisantona which has some obvious similarity to Trent. Maybe already the Romans got the name from the Celts and later people merely went ahead and garbled the Roman 'Trisantona'.
