Question: what is the correct origin of Raizel?
Okay, I already know what this name means; it's meaning is "rose". However, I've looked in 20 baby books, and they all gave Hebrew or Yiddish as the origin. Which is accurate?
Thanks!

Yiddish is basically German, with some Hebrew, Russian etc words - as spoken by Jews in central Europe from medieval times onward. Lots of Yiddish names have the -el ending; nothing to do with god, it's a diminutive form.
Point is that, since Yiddish uses Hebrew words, quite possibly both are correct as origins.

Yes, I'm fully aware of Yiddish and its background. Thanks for your help, though. :)
