Kyra, Kyria, Kiera, Kira ????
Kyra, Kyria, Kiera, Kira ????
Am I right in pronouncing all of these spellings the same ....as in
/KEAR-A/ not /KIE-RA/. I like the Kyra or Kyria spellings of the name but I'm not sure if I'm pronouncing it right. I also want to know of which of these spellings other people would correctly pronounce most likely, what does everyone think?

I do believe you are pronouncing all of them correctly, all of them are pronounced the same way and the correct way of saying it would be: Keera.
I pronounce my name that way... and as far as I know, the other versions are the same
Kiera
Does anyone know the historical background to this name Derivation etc.

I pronounce my name Kiera (Key-rah).
According to our venerable leader and cash cow Mike C (peace be upon Him) Kyra is a feminine version on Cyrus. In addition to this etymology, Kyra may also related to the Greek Kyria (meaning "Lady")and pronounced keyREEah. Offshoot Greek names include the male Kyriakos (Key-ri-A-kos") -- meaning "of the Lord" -- and the female Kyriaki (Key-reea-KEY)-- meaning Sunday. A famous Kyriakos includes George Michael. A famous Kyriaki includes PriaposLovs' wife.
If Da Boss, Mike C., sees this...
"According to our venerable leader and cash cow Mike C (peace be upon Him)..."
I just want to know that with all this apple-polishing that Priapos is doing, is Priapos getting paid a higher salary than Daividh and me? :)

Kyra and Kira are definitely pronounced like Keera. However, I'd stay away from Kyria (that looks like Keer ee a) and Kiera. In this day and age, at least in the USA, Kiera would probably be pronounced like Kee-AIR-a like Sierra with a K. There will be the few that pronounce Kyra like KYE-ra, but I think you run the risk of mispronounciation with just about any more unusual name. I think Kira is the most fool proof spelling.
Trust me on this one, there is no fool proof spelling on the name Kira. All my life I run into people who pronounce the "I" as an "I" instead of an "E" sounding.
mine is pronounced with an "I" not and 'E' sounding
I would go for Kira
It even sounds pretty I think. Perhaps a little like the name Crystal.
Kira is probably not a crystal, but it sounds crystalline to me.
I must admit that I like names too where it is possible for adults and children alike to hear what letters the name is made from.
My own name as an example is Selwyn. The y is pronounced as a y.
But one could probably well imagine a person whose name was spelt Selwyn but pronounced Selwin. I do not see the meaning of such.
It only makes things more complicated than they already are ;)

There actually is someone named Kyra Selwyn, but she does not pronounce it "Sell Wine."

I like the spelling Kyra best. I think Kear-a is the right way to pronounce all of them except Kyria, which I would say Kie-rea. I don't know if that's right though.
The name Kiera is actually Persian in origin and should be pronounced - "Kee- er- rah"
