Wladzia, Bronia, and Marysia
I'm looking for the meanings (and pronunciations, if anyone knows) of Wladzia, Bronia and Marysia. They're Polish girls names that I found in the memoir of a Polish girl who helped Jews during the Holocaust. I don't know anything else about them, but I assume Marysia is a form of Maria. Can anyone give me information?

My guess is that Wladzia is short from Wlodzislawa (or from any other name that starts with Wlod - to rule). Similarly, Bronia can be short from Bronislawa or any other name that starts with Bron - protection. I honestly have no idea about Marysia, though you could be right about Maria. I live in a region where it is alot of polish people and I'm thinking if you just sound out their names in english, it'll be pretty close. But that's just my theory. Good luck???
