Cleora
Hi,
The name 'Cleora' is in several of the lists of popular names for girls throughout the ages (particularly the turn-of-the-century ones, if I remember correctly), but it doesn't have an entry in the database. Could anyone tell me how to pronounce it, where it comes from, if it's related to any other names or what it means? I like names with lots of vowels in them (good thing I'm called Eleanor then!) :) Thanks.

Hi Elle,
maybe Cleora is short for Greek names beginning with Cleo-/Kleo- like Kleopatra (glory + father)?? The cleo-/kleo- part always means "glory".

There is an old French name Cléore - these two must be related!
Thanks for your help, the acute on the French name gives a hint on the pronounciation for me. Perhaps it's a variant of Claire? I'm just guessing
