it's pronounced Mi-hal, the ch makes a hard sound like in chanukah. the closest way to secribe is that the c is silent

MICHAL (1) m Polish, Czechis Mee-ha-oooh - the ha-oooh pretty much flows onto one another. But, it can also be pronounced as the typical Michael.

Since it's a biblical (Hebrew) name like Michael, and not a French one like Michelle, it should logically be a K sound and in English it sounds exactly like Michael, which is probably one reason for its rarity.

As far as I know Michal Does not sound like Michael.
I have a friend named Michal. She pronounces it
Me-Chal
the "CH" is raspy like in Chanukah.

...probably pronounced in an unladylike guttural/expectorant fashion, to quote Phyllis :)
