I don't know for sure, but it probably has some religious relation. After all...wasn't Aramis the monk-ish one of the musketeers? BTW, I LOVED that book. Sorry if I wasn't very helpful.

Aramis is one of Alexander Dumas's three musketeers.
The origin of the name is obscure, but may be relates to "Aram," a branch of the Semitic family of languages, including Syriac and Chaldee.
