Happy Thanksgiving Cole. (Even though it is hard for us Canajuns to say that in November instead of October where it belongs!) Enjoy your turkey & thanks for your cool postings which always brighten my day...

So, just what does the Canadian Thanksgiving celebrate? Our calender mentions it, but I've never understood why it's at a different time. Y :)
P.S.: Happy LATE Thanksgiving!!

Canadians are notoriously ignorant of their own culture. I myself had to do a Google search to discover that there was no specific event which resulted in our Thanksgiving being celebrated in October....it was just a carry-over from the European tradition of celebrating the harvest. It hopped around through vaious days in November before our Parliament settled, in 1957, on the second Monday in October as "A Day of General Thanksgiving to Almighty God for the bountiful harvest with which Canada has been blessed". Enjoy your turkey...we feasted on a nine pound chicken!
wow, so you guys eat chicken instead of turkey??? i didn't know that!!! what else do you guys eat at your thanksgiving????
hey anouther guess at how your thanksgiving came to be. Canada was once part of America (like a tiny bit) in the 1700s like after the French-Indian war (aka: Seven Years War) and it got carried over from there. OR we copied you! i don't know, just exercising what i know!! happy-belated thanksgiving!!!

No, turkey is the usual around here too, but a friend just happened to have all these very plump, fresh, free range chickens on her hands so we broke with tradition. Yum!
Actually, we had ham, 'cause my brother and I don't like turkey! Y :)
ahh, we were going to have fish but then my dad and bro said no. but they said yes the first time we asked them! :)
