Meaning of the name "AITANA"
Hi all, does anybody know the meaning for the above mentioned name? - I really like it. I recently saw the movie "A walk in the clouds" with Keanu Reeves and Aitana Sanchez-Giron (I think she is Spaniard). Anybody have a clue as to what it means?
Help is much appreciated...

Surely it is not the origin, but Aitana also means Strong in Hebrew.
I am really trying to find out the origin and real meaning of this old name Aitana. Some say it's portuguese meaning glory; others say it's spanish; others it's basque; others it's hebrew-african. And it is supposed to be for boys as Aitan meaning fight of possession. If you find the real meaning of this name, please let me now.

The names Aitana and Aintzane come from the Basque word aintza... which means glory.
Thanks for the reply, but what is Basque? Excuse my ignorance.

Hello Nancy,
Basque is a language spoken in parts of Spain and France. Their own name for the language is Euskara or Eskuara and it belongs to the Hamitic-Semitic languages.
