Your first name of Samara has given you the vision and foresight to be able to organize others and to hold positions of responsibilities with poise and self-confidence. This name creates an optimistic outlook on life and favourable conditions in your personal affairs. You have the ability to express your thoughts and ideas, and you are friendly, likeable, and generous. You enjoy fun, laughter and congenial association. This name also gives you an appreciation of art, music, drama, or any of the many forms of expression in the arts. Since you are quick and fluent in your expression, you have to guard against boastfulness or dominating a situation. You are likely a big eater, requiring heavy foods to satisfy your appetite. Overeating can affect the bloodstream, causing it to become overheated. In turn, skin problems could result. There could also be weaknesses in the generative organs.

The Ring... Every time I walk by a t.v now, I get a shiver. Indeed a very freaky movie.
It was pronounced suh-mar-uh
My first name is Samara, and it actually means "guarded by God." I have heard that there are Arabic origins as well. "Samirah" or "Samyrah" is Hebrew for eventing conversation. Totally different name.
The Internet movie database, as well as the credits for The Ring spelled the name as "Samara". ( www.imdb.com )
Besides being a name, the word Samara has a few definitions:

"Samara" is definitely not Hebrew in any sense of the word. "suh-MAR-uh" is Arabic, 100%.
It possibly could be a DEGRADED form of "SHEH-MAR-i-yahu" (shehmaryahu) (guarded by God) but you'd have to make the leap and drop the SHIN and the HU, which then fully obliterates the meaning.
Regardless, it's a pretty name, just probably not Hebrew.
