Archivesmeaning of first name
This was my grandmothers name. My ancestry is Austrian. I have only found one other person in 30 years with the same name. My grandmother would have been aprox 80 something, I don't know if that helps. it won't be easy. thanx, ali

The name "Aloisia" also appears in the forms of "Aloysia" and is a feminine form of the Latin "Aloysius", via the Old High German "Louis", meaning "famous warrior".
France made "Aloyce", or "Heloise" out of this name, and this was made one of the great "romance" names by the 11th century French abbess Heloise, who wrote the love letters to Abelard.
As "Aloysia", the name honored saints and kings, and the lemon verbena, named the "aloysia" in honor of the Spanish Queen Maria Louisa Theresa, made of it a "plant" name.
