Zelopa PERRY
Hi,
We've hit a brick wall on an ancestor and I'm hoping for some help. Her first name (this is an assumption, there is no indication of a middle name or initial) is "Zelopa". I have also seen it spelled "Zelopha". We have no idea who her parents or siblings are. We have been told she was born in New Hampshire, 1813, and is a granddaughter of "Commodore Perry".
She married a man named "Rennselear" Merrifield. That is an unusual one as well, and I'd love to know where it comes from.
Any thoughts or ideas of name origin, ethnicity, etc., which may help me in my search?
Thank you!
Shelly

Zelopha and Rennselear are both Buried in a small Cemetery in Porter, Maine. The cemetery is located about 2 and a half miles from Rt. 160 on the right.
Zelopha/Zelopa could be related to Zelpha and/or Zelpah, which are variations of Zilpah. That's just a guess but it might be a starting point. Click the hyperlinks for more info :-)
edit - changed Zelopha to Zelopha/Zelopa
