Doreleijers is a dutch family-name!
I'm very interested in your husband's cause to find the origins of his middle name. My interest in this name is related to my family name which as you can see starts with Dorelei/Doreleij (Dutch ij = y). My family name in Holland goes back to the early 1500s, but nobody knows where it comes from, since it does not resemble or sound like any Dutch name.
What I found out about Doreley (Dorelei) so far is that it is a first name, probably of Catalan (Spanish) origin. That's why you often can find it with people of Spanish or Latin American origin. There might also be a French connection. Dorelei is a known beer brand in Alsac (France).
Please keep me posted if you find anything more about de name Doreley.
Best Regards,
Erwin

Are his parents still alive and if so then they may know more or his aunties or uncles may help.
No such luck no one to talk to. All we know is that the family is of French Canadian descent.
