Message: "chevelle" - Behind the Name

I am new to this but i was just wondering if anyone knew the origin of the name Chevelle. I named my daughter Chavelle, but i just took the name and changed the E to an A to be more unique. Really have no idea where the name came from except that its the name of a car and a band. If anyone could help me it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Rather horsey-looking IMO ... similar to Philippa!

Maybe it has something to do with the French word "cheval" (horse) or "chevalier" (knight).

I also think of The Ballad of Chevy Chase and Cheviot, but I don't think they are related to Chevelle.

Chavelle also *looks* like a form of the Hebrew Chava (Ava).
