Hi there everyone,

Does anyone know what Vinicius mean ? It's a male name and I think it has some relation to Latim, although it's a very common name here in Brazil (our language is portuguese that is derived from Latim).

The closest-sounding Latin word to your name is the Latin verb "vincere", meaning "to conquer". This is the etymological source of the name Vincent.

Yeah, but the -i- shouldn't be there. As every schoolboy used to know, it's vinco, vincere, vici, victum, so Vincent is the present participle (vincens) and Victor is from the past participle (victum).

My best guess about Latin origins would be Vinicola = wine-farmer, but I haven't looked it up. And it's been a long time ...
