My Family Surname and Its Meaning.....
I can't find anything to do with either my family surname - BIDDLES - or it's origin or meaning. The nite is rife with information about Biddle (without the s) but I'm completely in the dark about my name history. Can anyone help?

In general, the 's' at the end of an English name doesn't change the meaning. According to most sources I could discover, Biddle comes from Beadle (which was the title of a type of messenger or official - the full meaning is here: http://www.etymonline.com/index.php?term=beadle). The 's' might indicate that the first person to be given the name Biddles was the son of a Beadle, or it might not. The meaning is basically the same, though.
