Origins of Lachlan
Does anyone know the very first origins of Lachlan and the original spelling of it??

I've heard something about it being Welsh. Lychlyn or some such was what the called Finnland and Norway b/c of all their lakes/lachs.

The definition of Lochlainn (given above) is in agreement with page 26 of “Irish Names for Children,” by Patrick Woulfe, revised edition published 1974. The short discussion ends with, "Dr. [Alexander] MacBain suggests that it was originally MacLochlainne 'son of Scandinavia' . . ."
