Lyn or Lynn is the Welsh word for Lake = the English word Lindo (rarely found) Hop was one of our first thoughts but the hops that grow near (or by) the lake, seemed unlikely. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and for the comments on baby Trinity. Incidentally not a trendy name in England, virtually unknown, even after the Matrix...

Yes, I knew Lynn meant "lake" in Welsh, and that the given name ordinarily derives from the Welsh source. Another source could be the Old English element lin "flax", but I don't think that'd be common.
Lindo's an interesting name. I think it's also conceivable that it could derive from Old English lindi "snake" or linde/lind "lime tree" or the Germanic lind "serpent"/"dragon" or linde "soft"/"tender". I think Lindo would make a great masculine form of Linda today too.
The ancients sure liked their lin- elements, didn't they?
And you're welcome about the Trinity issue.
EDIT: Hit send too soon, forgot last sentence.

Hi, Miranda,
Thanks for the info. I find Welsh quite fascinating, especially in as much as how little it seems to have changed over the years.
I hear your a Janeway girl? I'm a Star Trek fan too, loved Patrick Stewart in the Captains chair, Brillant, Masterful, decisive, the ultimate dipolmat and representive. Now don't laugh but Bagpus is quite like him, a real kind of natural leader and thinker, however has considerable more hair!
He's actually living in at the hospital at the moment, just stays by Trinity day and night, i hate to say it but i'm not sure if she's going to make it....

I go through name phases where I concentrate on names in different cultures. I don't think I've had a really hard Welsh phase yet, but it could happen in the future. I'm currently mildly into Arabic names.
I think we should really move the rest of this to the Lounge, since it's so off-topic, but anyway...
Aw, I'm sorry about Trinity! I hope she makes it. I know she has the potential to, since my sister was born three months early and survived unscathed (aside from some minor speech delays and a bit of an odd personality... but then, my entire family borders on psycho anyway, so how can I really judge? :-p).
Me and my parents lived at the hospital for the majority of my first five years of life, so I know about living in the hospital too. It's hard, but good nurses, doctors, and social workers really help you through it all.
