No it is not!

Neither irritating nor unfair. You have participated in small conversations in Italian...
A small joke in Spanish is certainly not "against the rules"
I read and was a part of those conversation and that is all they where, conversations. I believe Mike C. has not set this as a rule.
I apologise to anyone who doesn't speak Spanish and would like to understand what was said. it is simply a small, misspelled phrase that translates into " I am the mozt beztezt in the worl". However, I will continue to switch languages as I see fit and if anyone needs a translation from me and asks politely, I will happily translate and explain. This is a multicultural, international website, as it is about names form all over the world. No one expects it to be an "English only" forum.

*sigh* Magia . . .
I'm telling you that it is irritating - I felt irritated.
In several previous discussions on this topic (not instigated by me) it was agreed that private conversations like that shouldn't happen. I believe it was Norwegian or Swedish last time, and the perpetrators (I think Caprice was one of them) were happy enough to agree to always translate their comments.
I have participated in small conversations in Italian in the Lounge, in the context of discussing the Italian language - not in the context of having exclusive conversations on the etymology board.

Well...
Still, I don't share the opinion of people *not* using another language. It comes in handy and necessary for the sake of a better communication.
I have been a member of BtN, long enough to know how to behave on the message boards. I can tell you nothing I do is in order to "irritate" or disrespect any of the other posters and I haven't.
Like I said, if I see it fit I will use another language (I feel it is inappropriate to be asked *not* to) and I will gladly translate, below if necessary or by request.
Not intending to pick a fight here, just making my position clear to avoid further discussion of the matter.

Agree.........
I don't see anything wrong with quick conversations in other languages...mainly because they're always willing to translate. And I think we did have this conversation, and there was a consenus that it was fine.
