I looked in ur directory and u say that Ali is just a male name!
Well Im Female and my name is Ali
And havent u ever heard of Ali McGraw?
People also use Ali as a short form of Alexandra or Alexis Alexa or Alexia Alexina Alexey u get it!

I have no doubt that you, Ms McGraw and others pronounce Ali like the first syllable of Alison, which of course it is. Whereas the male name Ali, which is of course Muslim as the former Cassius Clay will attest, is pronounced Ah-lee. Storm in a teacup?

But, most people spell it Allie or Ally.

Ali is masculine.

I know what you mean! My names Alison and I hate my name so everybody calls me Ali! I don't like Ali either! I think it sounds more of a name for a man than a girl. But I think it should be both! So I asked for people to call me by my middle name Elizabeth, but we've more than enough Elizabeths and liz's around. So I have to put up with Ali! And because of all this it's my goal to change my name!

i have a friend who's sis name is Alison. And we call her Al. i know someone else who goes by the nickname Al.
