I teach Sunday School and one of my students has the name of Briston. I have never heard of this and can't find it in any database. Does anyone know what it means?

I am not sure where you actually live. But the name Briston possibly comes from the Domesday Book entry about the English village of Briston or "Burstana" the oxford dictionary gives us the two words to make the name "Byrst & Tun" Brystun. The earliest dates for Briston's that i have found is around the early 1700's
