He was actually Question Mark and it was a stage name.
His real name was Rudy. It's illegal to have a symbol as a name--so no, "?" can't be considered a name in the USA. Neither can the symbol Prince used to go by.

Turns out that she's right and it technically is ?, at least sometimes. They go back and forth in how they write it, actually, as can be seen here: http://www.96tears.net/q.html
The Mysterians' website is pretty much useless, unfortunately, if information's what the girl is looking for. I knew what I posted off the top of my head, and that came from the book Bubblegum Music is the Naked Truth.

? was on a VH1 show the other day... they wrote it out as "Question Mark." They also said he had legally changed his name, so it's probably spelled out.
