We'll try. "Lara" is a Russian female name meaning "famous", which I suspect relates it to the Latin, etc., "Laura", meaning "a laurel" and by implication a public decoration or honor for a hero or prominent citizen.
Lara entered popular English use in the late 60's, from Julie Christie's character in the hit film "Doctor Zhivago". (As "Doktor Schiwago", this flick played a solid first-run 58 weeks in Frankfurt when I was living there. I saw it twice in German out of self-defense, even tho a lot of the dialogue was over my head.)
